Survival CampPhotos of the 15th Didcot Scout Survival Camp 2008. It got a lot colder than they were expecting!!! Please be aware that some of these photos are not for the squeamish!!! And all activities were conducted in a humane and proper manor with proper instruction and coaching. Quote from one of the scouts... "My camp experience was fun but cold. It was very surprising to find that it is actually warmer when you sleep in a manmade shelter made out of sticks through a snowy night than to sleep in a hiking tent on a pretty warm night! I had a great time, especially when we got to make fires which was not only fun but also warm. One of the only things that I didn’t like was that when I was very hot by the fire, the heat didn’t penetrate my boots so my toes were still freezing. We also had a man called Alastair as a guest with us and he showed us loads of survival skills that might come in handy later on in life." Hike tents in case of bad weather... The evening meal... And the toilet facilities! The survial shelters... Very good survival shelters as it happened! Preparing the evening meal... A great time was had by ALL the scouts and leaders and a special thank you goes out to Alastair for his instruction during the course of the weekend! We all look forward to the next survival camp... | Upcoming events10-01-2009 |
